The Bounding Box feature places the model in a container, allowing the object to be moved, scaled and rotated.
How-To Steps
- Once you’ve loaded a file in ARES
- Access the Hierarchy Tree and select the entire model or the desired components
- Navigate to Interaction and go to menu item Manipulation
- Look for the option Bounding Box
- Your model will now be placed into a cuboid container and can be moved by either grabbing the container with your hand or via far interaction
- By dragging the corners of the Bounding Box you are able to scale the model bigger or smaller
- Special markings on the container indicate in which axis directions the model can be rotated
- Flubbed up? – Tap the Undo button in the Interaction Window to reverse the most recent manipulation
Legacy
- Since ARES Version 1.0.3.0 the Bounding Box feature no longer provides one-handed rotation of an object
- In its place a new Selection Tool allowing free-hand rotation was implemented
When to use Grab or Bounding Box feature
- Use Grab if you want to move and rotate the object freely
- Use Bounding Box if you want to move and scale the object freely or rotate it around specific given axes
