The Sphere Section is used to draw a flexible cross section through the object and is suitable for the examination of internal structures of models.
How-To Steps
- Once you’ve loaded a file in ARES
- Access the Main Menu and navigate to Interaction
- Go to menu item Visualization and three geometrical forms will appear
- Look for the option Sphere Section and grab the floating sphere with your hand
- By dragging the insides of said sphere you will be able to expand it
- You can choose between two Clipping Side modes – Inside and Outside

- Outside: Place the sphere inside your model and every component in the sphere will be rendered invisible, leaving only parts outside of it visible
- Change the Clipping Side setting by tapping on Inside or Outside
- By grabbing the sphere and moving it around you can change which components are placed into the sphere and will be rendered visible/invisible
