Downloading and Installing AR3S Pro Server and AR3S Pro Client

AR3S Pro was formerly known as ARES Pro.
The utilization of AR3S Pro requires users to download and install both the AR3S Pro Client app for HoloLens 2 and the AR3S Pro Server app for the PC.

Downloading and Installing AR3S Pro Client application for HoloLens 2

The AR3S Pro Client app can either be downloaded from the Microsoft Store or sideloaded through the Windows Device Portal for HoloLens. However, we strongly recommend utilizing the Microsoft Store to stay current and up to date.

Downloading and Installing via Microsoft Store 

  1. Go to the Microsoft Store on your HoloLens Device and look for "AR3S Pro" 
  2. Click on the "Get" button and, if you have not already done so, log in to your Microsoft account or click on "No, thanks"
  3. Next, press on the button reading "Install on my devices" to install AR3S Pro on your HoloLens
  4. The AR3S Pro Client app should now be among your installed apps.

Downloading and Installing via Download Center

  1. Go to Holo-Light's download center on your PC and navigate to the tab reading "AR3S Pro(Client)"
  2. Click on "Download" and a ZIP folder will be downloaded to your PC 
  3. Extract the content of the folder and go to the Windows Device Portal 
  4. Install the file in the aforementioned folder on your HoloLens by following these official instructions provided by Microsoft
  5. The AR3S Pro Client app should now be among your installed apps.

Downloading and Installing AR3S Pro Server application for PC

  1. Go to our Download Center on your PC and navigate to the tab reading "AR3S Pro(Server)"
  2. Click on  "Download" and a ZIP folder will be downloaded to your PC 
  3. Extract the content of the folder and run the installer following all prompts
    1. We recommend using 7zip, as the native Windows 10 ZIP archiver may experience issues with long filenames/paths.

Troubleshooting

In some rare cases it may happen that the AR3S Pro Server application cannot be started on the PC or only displays a black screen. If this behavior occurs, the following item should be checked:
  • Does your PC meet the minimum Requirements specified here (especially regarding the graphics card)?
  • Did you run the server app as an administrator?
    • If not, please right-click on the program and select "Run as Administrator".
  • Is your Firewall blocking the application?
    • If so, please deactivate it and try again.
  • Does your PC require a Windows Security Check?
    • If so, go to "Windows Security" -> "Virus & threat protection" -> "Scan Now" and choose either "Quick scan" or "Scan Options" -> "Custom Scan" and select the AR3S Pro Server .exe file
  • Did you start the  AR3S Pro Server on your primary monitor (in case you're using multiple screens) ?
    • You can check which monitor is the primary screen at "Settings" -> "System" -> "Rearrange your displays" -> "Identify", the primary screen will now display the number "1".
    • This known issue has now been eliminated with AR3S 1.4.0.0 and should no longer occur as of this version.
  • Is your operating system (on the HoloLens 2 or your PC) set to a language other than English?
    • Languages such as French or Polish have caused problems in the past, but with AR3S Pro v.1.4.0.0 this known issue should be eliminated. If in doubt, please update if you are using an older version.
