Establishing a Connection between AR 3S Pro Server and AR 3S Pro Client

AR 3S Pro was formerly known as ARES Pro.
Once you have downloaded and installed the AR 3S Pro server application on your PC and the AR 3S Pro client application on your HoloLens 2, you can connect them. 

Please make sure in advance that your HoloLens 2 and your server device are connected to the same network.

Connecting AR 3S Pro Server and AR 3S Pro Client via IP Address

Launch the AR 3S Pro client application on your HoloLens and the AR 3S Pro server application on your server device. Make sure you have set the "AR 3S Pro" tab within the application.

Within the AR 3S Pro client app type into the text field next to "Server address" the IP address shown in the AR 3S Pro server app.

Click on "Connect" and AR 3S Pro should now start on your HoloLens 2 while the "Connection Status" of the server app should read "Connected".

Connecting AR 3S Pro Server and AR 3S Pro Client via Connection QR Code

Launch the AR 3S Pro client application on your HoloLens and the AR 3S Pro server application on your server device. Make sure you have set the "AR 3S Pro" tab within the application.

Within the server application switch the tab to "Connection QR Code" and a QR Code should be displayed. In the client application, click on the "Scan QR code" button and scan the aforementioned Connection QR code from the server app.

Once a connection has been successfully established, the AR 3S application should start on the HoloLens.

Troubleshooting

No connection can be established between Client and Server

In some rare cases it may happen that the AR 3S Pro server cannot establish a connection to the AR 3S Pro Client. If this behavior occurs, the following items should be checked:
  • Does your PC meet the minimum hardware requirements (especially regarding the graphics card)?
  • Did you run the server app as an administrator?
    • If not, please right-click on the server application and select "Run as Administrator".
  • Is your Firewall blocking the connection?
    • If so, please deactivate it and try again.
  • Is your operating system (on the HoloLens 2 or your PC) set to a language other than English?
    • Languages such as French or Polish have caused problems in the past, but with AR 3S Pro 1.4.0.0 this known issue should be eliminated. If in doubt, please update if you are using an older version.

Connection QR Code cannot be scanned

It may happen that within the AR 3S Pro client application the Connection QR code cannot be scanned. If this behavior occurs, the following items should be checked:
  1. Are the camera and microphone permissions enabled on the HoloLens 2?
