Exploded View

Exploded View

AR 3S was formerly known as ARES.
The "Exploded View" feature allows 3D objects to be disassembled down into their individual parts in a variety of levels on the X, Y and Z axes.

Accessing the "Explosion View" Tool

This feature can only be used if at least one file has already been loaded and at least one component has been selected (e.g. via "Hierarchy" menu).

Once you have started AR 3S access the "Main" menu and go to "Tools". An array of features will be displayed, from which you can choose from. Press on "Exploded View" to activate the tool.

Options Available

The effects of the "Exploded View" feature depend on the model and its properties before export from the CAD software. Within AR 3S the following options can be adjusted.

Reset Explosion

"Reset Explosion" resets the effects of this feature and the 3D object is reverted to its state before the explosion.

Axis

This option specifies the axes on which the model is disassembled. By clicking on either the X, Y, Z button the specific axis is enabled or disabled.

Scene Direction X, Scene Direction Y and Scene Direction z

The options "Positive/Negative Space", "Positive Space" and "Negative Space" allow the model to explode in different directions within the current Workspace scene.

"Negative Space" or "Positive Space" can be selected for all orientations to cover a specific area or a mix via "Positive/Negative Space" can be selected to choose the optimal orientation for your needs and models.

Distance Multiplier

This option specifies the distance between the components with a multiplier factor.

By gripping and moving the slider, the multiplier factor (1, 1.5, 2, 5 and 10) can be selected and the distance dynamically adjusted.

Explosion Steps

This option specifies the extent to which the 3D object is disassembled

By gripping and moving the slider, the explosion step (from 1 to 10) can be selected. The slider can be undocked by clicking on the blue "Undock" icon to the right of the "Explosion Steps" slider. It should now be accessible as a separate menu and can be placed in the room when it is grabbed.
