Multimedia

Multimedia

AR 3S was formerly known as ARES.
The " Multimedia " feature allows the user to import PDFs and MP4 video files into their AR 3S Workspace.

Accessing the "Multimedia" Tool

Once you have started AR 3S access the "Main" menu and go to "Tools". An array of features will be displayed, from which you can choose from. Press on "Multimedia" to activate this tool.

Options Available

Load File

Clicking on "Load File" opens the file browser and the desired file (PDF or MP4 video) can be selected.  Once the desired file has been selected, it will open in a new window within the AR 3S Workspace.

With the help of Far Interaction and Near Interaction, the window can be moved or rotated.  As soon as the blue menu bar of the window is targeted via Air Tap/directly grasped, a white frame appears around it and it can be moved freely in space. The window can be rotated by targeting/directly grasping the markings on the sides.

Managing PDF files

There are 5 icons in the PDF Viewer window with the following functionalities:
  1. As soon as the first icon is pressed, the PDF rotates clockwise.
  2. The second icon takes you immediately to the first page of the PDF (regardless of which page was last open). If you are already on the first page, nothing happens.
  3. The third icon takes you immediately to the last page of the PDF (regardless of which page was last open). If you are already on the last page, nothing happens.
  4. The fourth icon opens the PDF page before the currently displayed PDF page. If the first page is currently displayed,  nothing happens.
  5. The fifth icon opens the PDF page after the currently displayed PDF page. If the last page is currently displayed, nothing happens.
In the bottom right corner, the currently displayed page and the total number of pages are indicated (e.g. 2/36).

When the PDF is closed with a press on the "X" button in the top right corner of the PDF Viewer window or with a press on the "X" within the file list of the "Multimedia" menu, it is still available in the file list within the "Multimedia" menu, but does not appear in the AR 3S Workspace. When the "Undock" icon is clicked within the file list, the PDF re-appears in the AR 3S Workspace.

If a specific PDF is to be deleted completely from the workspace, then the "Delete" button next to its name in the file list must be pressed.

Managing MP4 files

There are several options in the Video Player window with the following functionalities:
    1. When the first icon is pressed, the video is played from the beginning, regardless of where it was stopped before.
    2. The second icon, "Speaker", can be used to turn the sound on and off completely.
    3. The button in the middle stops the video, while the two arrows next to it play the objects forwards or backwards while the video is stopped.
    4. The fourth icon with the two arrows makes the video play twice as fast. By pressing this icon again, the video is played in regular speed.
    5. With the fifth icon, the video controls can be undocked and used in a separate controller menu.
When the Video is closed with a press on the "X" button in the top right corner of the Video Player window or with a press on the "X" within the file list of the "Multimedia" menu, it is still available in the file list within the "Multimedia" menu, but does not appear in the AR 3S Workspace. When the "Undock" icon is clicked within the file list, the video re-appears in the AR 3S Workspace.

If a specific video is to be deleted completely from the workspace, then the "Delete" button next to its name in the file list must be pressed.

    Delete All

By pressing "Delete All", all PDFs and videos loaded in the workspace are deleted at once. This only works if at least one PDF or MP4 file has been loaded.
