Plane Section

Plane Section

AR 3S was formerly known as ARES.
The Plane Section is used to draw a flexible cross section through the object and is suitable for the examination of internal structures of models.

How-To Steps

  • Once you’ve loaded a file in AR 3S
  • Access the Main Menu and navigate to Interaction
  • Go to menu item Cross Section and three geometrical forms will appear
  • Look for the option Plane Section and grab the floating plane with your hand
  • By dragging the corners of said plane you will be able to expand it and change its alignment
  • You can choose between two Clipping Side modes – Positive and Negative
    • Positive: Your object will be hidden. Cut with the plane through your object and render the components visible
    • Negative: Cut with the plane through your object and render the components invisible
  • Change the Clipping Side setting by tapping on Positive or Negative
  • By grabbing the plane and moving it around you cut through the model, adjusting which components will be rendered visible/invisible
  • Remove the Plane Section by clicking on the Delete button
  • Flubbed up? – Tap the Undo button in the Interaction menu to reverse the most recent manipulation
