Realign Origin

Realign Origin

AR 3S was formerly known as ARES.
The "Realign Origin" feature allows you to re-locate the Origin of your AR 3S workspace and thus makes it possible to correctly align your position in the room you are currently working.

Accessing the "Realign Origin" Feature

Once you have started AR 3S access the "Main" menu and click on "Realign Origin".

A red square with the hologram of a QR code next to it will appear. This mode can be exited by performing the Air Tap gesture anywhere in the air.

Scan your QR code as soon as you are prompted to do so by by lowering your gaze at the QR code so that it is enclosed by the red rectangle.

Two holographic green lines will run across the QR code and a scanning sound is emitted. A window will pop up reading "Shall Position and orientation of this reference be applied to the App Origin?".

The following options will be presented to you:
  1. "Apply"
    1. The position of the QR code is now the Origin instead of the position in the room when AR 3S was launched and the hologram moves accordingly.
  2. "Apply Only to App Origin"
    1. The position of the QR code is now the Origin instead of the position in the room when AR 3S was launched but the hologram does not move; it stays in the same place as before the scan.
  3. "Cancel"
    1. The Origin is not repositioned and the operation is canceled.
With the first two options, the "World Reference Point" and its axes shimmers above the QR code after successful scanning.

Troubleshooting

If the application has issues with recognizing the QR code, please make sure that the QR code is placed on a pattern less surface and ensure that there are good lighting conditions.

The "Realign Origin" feature should work with common QR codes (of type Model 1 and Model 2), meaning no special QR code needs to be generated for this purpose.
