Transferring Files to Server Device

Transferring Files to Server Device

AR 3S and AR 3S Pro were formerly known as ARES and ARES Pro.

Working with 3D CAD models is one of the most important aspects of AR 3S. And to be able to manipulate your CAD files in AR 3S Pro, you first have to make the files available to your server (e.g. your PC).

File Types Supported by AR 3S

  2. .fbx (support for animation with auto-play/loop)
  3. .jt (version 8.1 to 9.5)
  4. .manifest
  5. .hl3d
  6. .gltf/ .glb (binary version) (support for animation with auto-play/loop)
  7. .stl
  8. .svf
  9. .usd
  10. Video – .mp4, .avi, .m4v,.mov, .wmv

File Types Supported by AR 3S Pro

In addition to the file types listed above, the following file types are supported in AR 3S Pro.
  1. Siemens – JT (10.x), NX(.prt)
  2. Solid Edge (.asm, .par, .psm)
  3. Dassault Systems – Catia v5 (.cat, .catpart), SolidWorks (.sldasm, .sldprt)
  4. Autodesk – Inventor (.iam, .ipt)
  5. .stp
  6. .step

Transferring Data to Server Device

Open the file explorer on your server device and navigate to the "3D Objects".

Drag and drop the file into the aforementioned folder and the file should now be available within AR 3S Pro – please refer to this guide for instructions on how to upload files.

Troubleshooting

To be able to use your own 3D CAD models in AR 3S, you are required to have an active valid license. If you are using AR 3S in demo mode, you can only access default demo files.

"3D Objects" folder cannot be found

Under Windows 11, access to the "3D Objects" folder has been made a bit more difficult , since it is no longer there by default.

In this case, a regular folder can be created in the usual manner and named "3D Objects" – this folder will be treated like the default folder in Windows 10 by the AR 3S application.
